Reading Around the Room

This morning we were reading around the room! The students are very excited that we have begun to read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, by Roald Dahl. As students are reading they are answering comprehension questions, working with new vocabulary words, as well as making connections to the text. At the conclusion of the book we will watch the original movie and make a comparison between the book and the movie. Students who have already seen the movie but not read the book are already noticing that there are differences and that the book has more details than the movie!

Field Trip Reminder

Friday, May 19

Students will be going to the Reservoir on Friday. Please dress your child for the weather. Students should wear:

• long pants
• sneakers
• *bug spray (see instructions below)

*Students who would like to wear bug spray should apply the bug spray BEFORE they arrive to school.

Students will arrive back to school by 12p.m. Lunch will be at our normal time, therefore students may bring or buy school lunch as usual.

Students will not be able to bring cameras on this field trip due to the activities they will participate in.

Biographies Research

We have been busy in the library learning how to research as well as strengthen our note taking skills. We used real books to read information about famous Massachusetts people. We use our i-Pads next week to read information in a digital encyclopedia. After all notes are taken we will be putting our information together digitally to share with the class.

Meet our new class pets

Lulu and Myrtle have joined our classroom from the science center! They are eastern box turtles and are very active in their little traveling habitat. 

Field Trip Slips

We are heading out on a field trip next month. Permission slips are being sent home today. Please return the completed form to school by Friday, April 28.

Science Center April Vacation Animal Care

The Science Center is looking for homes to care for some of their animals over April vacation.

--The Science Center will provide cage, food, bedding, and care sheet for each animal.

--CALL MS. WENDY PAVLICEK AT (781)-270-2928 if interested.  

--Animals are distributed on a first come, first serve basis.  

--All animals must be picked up before Thursday by making an appointment with Ms. Pavlicek.
